About Burj Marble & Granite Industry & The ERP Requirement

Burj Marble & Granite Industry is a UAE-based natural stone supplier and installer, specialising in the supply and installation of premium stone for exterior cladding, interior flooring, dimensional stone designs, water-jet cutting, and ornamental stonework. Operating across both supply and installation services, the business manages a complex workflow that spans procurement, production, project costing, and customer delivery, all simultaneously.

As the business grew, managing job costs across multiple projects using disconnected systems and spreadsheets became increasingly difficult. There was no reliable way to track the actual cost of each installation job against the quoted price, or to monitor material usage, labour, and overhead per contract in real time. At the same time, the company needed to bring sales, purchasing, inventory, finance, and HR onto a single platform.

Burj Marble approached TrueBays looking for an ERP software that could handle the specific demands of the natural stone industry, including job costing per contract, while being easy enough for the finance and operations team to use daily without extensive technical training.

Why Standard ERP Systems Don't Work for the Marble & Stone Industry

The marble and granite industry has specific operational requirements that most off-the-shelf ERP systems are not designed to handle. Running a business that simultaneously manages raw stone procurement, custom fabrication, project-based installation contracts, and multiple client deliverables creates challenges that generic ERP modules cannot solve without customisation. Burj Marble faced four core problems:

1. No Job-Level Cost Visibility: Every installation project for Burj Marble is essentially a unique contract, with different stone materials, fabrication requirements, labour hours, and site conditions. Without a job costing module, there was no system to track the actual cost of each project against the quoted price. The business could not accurately determine which jobs were profitable and which were running over budget until after completion.

2. Inventory Tracking Did Not Match Stone Industry Workflows: Natural stone inventory involves slabs, cut pieces, offcuts, and finished products, none of which fit neatly into standard inventory categories. Managing stock levels and material allocation across jobs required custom configuration that a generic inventory module could not provide out of the box.

3. Disconnected Sales, Finance and Operations: Sales quotations, purchase orders, financial records, and HR data were managed in separate tools with no integration. Month-end reporting required manual consolidation from multiple sources, a time-consuming process prone to errors for the finance team.

4. Need for an Easy-to-Use System: Previous attempts at implementing business software had been abandoned due to complexity. The Finance Manager specifically required a system that was easy to learn and use daily, without requiring specialist technical knowledge to operate.

Key Differentiator: Job Costing ERP Customised for the Stone Industry

Standard ERP systems treat all inventory and production the same way, which does not work for project-based stone supply and installation businesses. TrueBays took the time to understand Burj Marble's exact workflow before configuring the system, mapping job costing to individual installation contracts, configuring inventory categories for stone slabs and cut pieces, and aligning production tracking with the company's specific fabrication process. This level of customisation is what separates TrueBays from generic ERP vendors who deploy the same template for every client.

The TrueBays ERP Solution: 6 Modules, One Customised Platform

TrueBays implemented the StackFX ERP platform, customised specifically around Burj Marble's stone supply and installation workflows. Six core modules were deployed and configured:

Core Module — Industry Specific

Job Costing

The centrepiece of the implementation. Each installation project or supply contract is set up as a separate job within the system, with all associated costs, materials, fabrication, labour, and overheads, tracked against that specific job from quotation through to completion. Management can see the real-time cost versus quoted value for every active contract at any point, enabling accurate profitability analysis per job rather than waiting until month-end.

Module

Sales Management

A complete sales and customer management module tracking quotations, customer orders, delivery timelines, and sales performance across all contracts. The team can monitor individual customer purchasing patterns, manage follow-ups on open quotations, and track delivery status against each project, giving the sales team full pipeline visibility from first enquiry to completed installation.

Module

Purchases Management

Full purchase order lifecycle management, from raising POs against specific jobs or general stock requirements, through to vendor invoice matching and payment tracking. Purchase orders are created digitally and sent directly to stone suppliers, with all procurement activity linked back to the relevant job costing record to maintain accurate per-project cost tracking.

Module

Inventory Management

Real-time stock tracking configured for natural stone materials, including slabs, cut pieces, and finished items. Low-stock alerts prevent material shortages on active projects, and all material movements are linked to the corresponding job record, ensuring inventory costs feed directly and accurately into job profitability calculations.

Module

Finance & Accounting

Cloud-accessible financial management providing the Finance Manager with real-time P&L, cash flow, and balance sheet data from any device. Financial data flows automatically from sales, purchases, and payroll, eliminating the manual month-end consolidation that previously consumed significant finance team time each month.

Module

HRMS & Payroll

Employee records, attendance, leave management, payroll processing, and benefits management integrated directly within the ERP platform. Workforce costs feed automatically into the finance module, providing an accurate view of total business costs and into job costing when labour is allocated to specific projects.

Results After ERP Implementation

Following the deployment of the customised StackFX ERP at Burj Marble & Granite Industry, the business gained operational visibility and control that was previously impossible with disconnected systems and spreadsheets:

Real-time job cost tracking introduced for the first time Every installation contract now has a dedicated job cost record in the ERP, tracking materials, labour, and overhead against the quoted value in real time. Management can see at a glance whether a project is on budget before completion, not after.
Six business functions unified onto a single customised platform Job costing, sales, purchasing, inventory, finance, and HR now operate from one integrated system, eliminating the manual data transfers between separate tools that previously took up significant time each month.
ERP customised to match the stone industry's specific workflow, not the other way around TrueBays analysed Burj Marble's exact operational process before implementation and configured the system accordingly — rather than asking the business to adapt to a rigid off-the-shelf template.
Finance team gained real-time financial visibility from any device The Finance Manager can now access live P&L, cash flow, and balance sheet reports from any internet-connected device, replacing the manual end-of-month consolidation process with automated, always-current financial reporting.
Full implementation completed in a short span of time with minimal disruption Despite the customisation required for the stone industry's unique workflows, TrueBays completed the full StackFX ERP implementation rapidly, getting the business operational on the new system quickly without extended downtime.

"A friend referred StackFX ERP to me and I'm glad he did. I needed an easy-to-use ERP Software to manage my marble & granite business. TrueBays was able to implement the ERP in a short span of time."

Architecture & Technology Stack

01

Platform Architecture:

StackFX ERP — TrueBays' proprietary ERP platform, built on a modular, in-house developed framework. The system's modular architecture allows individual components — including the job costing engine, to be configured and customised per industry without affecting other modules. This is what allowed TrueBays to adapt the platform to match Burj Marble's stone industry workflow rather than deploying a generic configuration.

02

Technologies Used:

Microsoft .NET Framework for application development, Microsoft SQL Server as the backend database engine, DevExpress for reporting and UI components, and Amazon Web Services (AWS) for cloud hosting, providing the Finance Manager and operations team with secure, always-available access to business data from any device, from any location.

03

Job Costing Configuration:

The job costing module was configured to map directly to Burj Marble's project structure, with each installation contract, supply order, or fabrication job set up as a trackable cost centre. Material costs drawn from inventory, purchase costs from vendor invoices, and labour costs from the HRMS module are all allocated to the relevant job automatically, giving management an accurate and up-to-date profitability view for every active project.
